Position Summary

 

Teach courses and implement the instructional program in accordance with course syllabi, College policies and ACCS guidelines. Advise and recruit students, assist in updating curricula, maintain teaching equipment, serve on College committees and support the total mission of the College.  Coordinate instructional activities with the Program Coordinator or Division Director where applicable and other duties as assigned. Position requires extensive knowledge of the instructional discipline.  

 

Candidate will be required to teach courses in the technical area of the Advanced/Automotive Manufacturing (ADM/AUT) Industrial Systems and Automation (INT) program. These courses include but are not limited to: DC Fundamentals, Industrial Electricity, Automotive Concepts Manufacturing Fundamentals (to include Lean, Safety and/or Quality), Robotics, and Programmable Logic Controllers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Perform assignments and maintain duty hours in accordance with the current faculty schedule. Classes may be scheduled day, evening or weekends to meet student needs.
  2. Teach courses as assigned in accordance with the course syllabi, facilitate student learning, and assist in implementing the total instructional program.
  3. Promote safety throughout the total instructional program.
  4. Maintain instructional related records including student attendance, student grades, enrollment records, competency records, student's plan of study, etc.
  5. Provide timely and accurate “Student No-Show” reports. These reports require instructor signatures and instructors are potentially financially liable for inaccurate reporting.
  6. Maintain classroom and laboratory equipment, supplies, and environments, which promote learning to perform in the current and emerging work world environments.
  7. Communicate with program advisory committee members, employers, and former students to receive guidance for upgrading curriculum and instruction.
  8. Provide academic advisement and assistance to students in career decision-making program planning, registration, and job seeking.
  9. Coordinate with the college placement office to identify potential employment opportunities for students and to identify students interested in job placement.
  10. Assist in developing and upgrading course syllabi and other curriculum materials.
  11. Serve on college committees as needed to support the total mission of the college.
  12. Promote the specific instructional program and the total institution within the occupational area and throughout the community.
  13. Recruit students for classes.
  14. Assist in recruiting, orienting, and supporting adjunct instructors to teach courses in area of responsibility.
  15. Contribute to the welfare and advancement of the total community.
  16. Keep up-to-date with teaching methodology, occupational information, and technology through professional development activities.
  17. Comply with applicable laws and regulations communicated through memos, staff meetings, and professional development workshops.
  18. Develop and implement lesson plans and appropriate test and measurement devices.
  19. Attend faculty meetings, in-service programs, and other college programs and functions, such as commencement and award ceremonies.
  20. Participate fully in the institutional planning process and assist in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College.
  21. Maintain compliance with College and program related accreditation and certification standards.
  22. Retain and submit documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts.
  23. Serve as an MSSC Instructor.
  24. Assist the Division Director with establishing and nurturing partnerships with industry partners, professional associations, personnel in public secondary school districts to disseminate curriculum-related and career information, state and local workforce development agencies/ career centers, and other such entities to help develop a seamless community-based workforce development system aimed at the automotive/advanced manufacturing industry.
  25. Perform other duties as directed by the Division Director and/or Associate Dean of Career/Technical Education.

 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree in the technical area with three (3) or more years of documented full-time work experience in the occupational or technical field. Effective written and oral communication skills are required, demonstrated ability to use instructional technology, experience working with computers and software, must work well with others in an innovative team environment, and must be willing to continuously participate in professional development activities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:   Bachelor's Degree in the technical area with five (5) or more years of documented full-time work experience in the occupational or technical field.
