Assistant Director of Financial Aid
Job Description
As the Assistant Director of Financial Aid, you will play a pivotal role in the leadership and management of the Financial Aid department, ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of financial aid services to students. Additionally, this position fosters effective collaboration with Student Accounts in matters pertaining to bills and coordinates with admissions to effectively recruit and retain students. In this multifaceted position, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the administration of graduate financial aid and back-end processing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide support to the financial aid and admissions team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations
- Counsel prospective and current students and their families through the financial aid process via phone, email, video/in person meetings, and presentations.
- Work in adherence with university, state, and federal guidelines and communicate such policies effectively to students/families.
- Work closely with prospective students and families, alongside various departments, to provide guidance and support for a seamless prospective and current student experience.
- Work closely with enrollment teams to assist with recruitment efforts as they pertain to questions surrounding financial aid processes, eligibility requirements, aid and affordability options
- Assist with SCHEV non-VTAG certification/reports.
- Assist with processing of student loans.
- Assist with Grad questions regarding packaging, budget, covering just cost, etc.
- Assist/support reconciliation between student accounts and financial aid processing system.
- Attend financial aid training to remain current with federal, state, and institutional policies.
- Reviews and assists with graduate student scholarships.
- Assists with troubleshooting and testing Colleague releases and processes for financial aid.
- Execute any supplementary responsibilities that may be necessary.
- 1 - 3 years of experience in higher education financial aid and/or admissions
- Knowledge of federal and state financial and programs and regulations
- Experience with Experience with Colleague and Slate
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred
