Job Description

The McDonald Center for Student Well-Being, within the Division of Student Affairs, is the health education, promotion and prevention department at the University of Notre Dame. The McDonald Center is charged with implementing population-based health and wellness initiatives for the student population toward a campus where all students can flourish. We are currently seeking a passionate professional to promote health education and student leadership. This is a full-time, 12-month position that will report to the Director and will require some evening and weekend hours.

Health Education
  • Train, mentor, and supervise peer educators, Senior Fellows, and student employees in evidence-informed health promotion strategies and bystander interventions.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate peer engagement strategies and continuously improve effectiveness.
  • Co-develop psychoeducation curricula grounded in prevention and promotion models including campus wide skills based programming.
  • Coordinate with Assistant Director for Student Leadership and Community Engagement, Director of the McDonald Center for Student Well-being and the Health Promotion team.

Student Initiatives Coordination
  • Train, mentor, and supervise peer educators.
  • Manage budget for peer-led initiatives and training
  • Advise student organizations and develop programming aligned with the McDonald Center’s mission.

Additional Opportunities
  • Represent the McDonald Center on campus committees.
  • Facilitate campus programs like GreeNDot, Mental Health First Aid, and Wellness and Resilience.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Science, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, or other related field.
  • Experience in evidence- and theory-based health promotion for college students.
  • Proven commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and social justice, with ability to design culturally responsive initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and motivational skills for developing students and colleagues.
  • Skilled in delivering presentations and educational programs to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective collaborations with university and community partners.
  • Proficient in assessment, research, and implementing best practices.
  • Experience training and supervising staff and students.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent communication, organization, and tech skills (MS Office, Google Suite).
  • Dedicated to lifelong learning in the evolving health promotion field.
