The Instructional Designer/Trainer will develop and maintain support resources/materials related to effective instructional strategies and the use of educational technologies for effective e-learning. This may include coordinating, developing and/or conducting faculty development sessions on course design, content delivery, accessibility (ADA/Section 504) of digital content; execution of required instructional processes; and the use of learning management system features and functionality.
Responsibilities also include but are not limited to, supporting faculty and college instructional support technology initiatives/needs; preparing and/or conducting related training sessions; evaluating course design; guiding faculty in the development of e-learning content that meets quality standards; maintaining appropriate records/files; researching and planning; and participating on committees, as assigned/approved by the employee’s manager.
The Instructional Designer/Trainer must possess good organizational and research skills, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong computer skills with online instruction applications software, have a customer service focus and a strong work ethic.
This is a 12 month, full-time position that reports to the Director of Distance Education.

Required Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Computer Science, Educational Technology, or related field.
- Minimum two years of demonstrated success teaching/training technology-related content.
- Minimum two years of experience in teaching with and/or administering the Blackboard learning management system (LMS) or similar platform.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:
- Master’s degree in instructional design, educational technology, or similar.
- Experience developing content to meet quality standards in Blackboard.
- Goal setting and strategic planning experience.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in the use of personal computers, presentation hardware/software, Email, virtual conferencing applications, and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Experienced with creating audio/video content for instruction or training.
- Experienced with creating content that meets accessibility standards.
- Documented ability to design and develop instructions, support materials, and training courses.
- Demonstrated success integrating educational technology tools (hardware, software, and web-based resources) into content design and delivery.
- Demonstrated success in providing technology support in an educational environment.

1. Remains current on instructional strategies and educational technologies for effective e-learning and assists in the identification and/or development of recommendations and requirements for effective content delivery. As required/approved by the employee’s manager, this may include completing position-related professional development (internal or external of the College) and participating in position-related professional organizations.
Duty and Responsibility:
2. Trains and supports faculty on educational technologies, instructional support applications, and design standards used in the creation/delivery of e-learning content and the execution of required instructional processes. This may include providing instructional design guidance; conducting course reviews; and developing/conducting workshops and/or training courses.

3. Assists in the collection of data and prepares operational records and reports, as required or requested by the employee’s manager.

4. Designs content to support instruction. This may include developing and/or posting website, intranet, and/or LMS site content; creating or editing multimedia such as images, audio, and video files; creating and/or evaluating content to meet accessibility standards; and performing related duties.

5. Administers software solutions (in whole or part, as assigned to the department) that support the delivery of instruction. This may include developing documentation; collaborating with counterparts in the College’s Information Systems division and/or NCCCS institutions; and interacting with vendors of instructional content, technologies and support platforms.

6. As required/approved by the employee’s manager, attends position-related College and State events and participates on College and State committees.
