Summary:
The College Community Health Educator (Wolves R.I.S.E Project Coordinator) designs, promotes, implements, and supports key initiatives and program activities related to evidence-informed/based health and wellbeing programs for the campus community in accordance with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration (SAMHSA) Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Campus Suicide Prevention grant. The health educator conducts regular programming, presentations, groups, events, brief interventions and initiatives that focus on harm reduction, education, prevention, and/or awareness, and community programs addressing substance use and suicide awareness and prevention.
 

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Designs, coordinates, and implements harm reduction and community wellness programs to the campus community.
  • Individual case management services as needed for at-risk students.
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates development of promotional materials, educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, and/or brochures, as appropriate to the program, in conjunction with marketing staff.
  • Complete all required grant activities and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee the grant budget and expenditures in compliance with approved line items; data collection; project evaluation and assessment.
  • Ensure completion of quarterly and yearly reports to SAMHSA. Provide direction and leadership for project activities related to the creation of the Advisory Council, increased prevention and outreach, and improved campus response for suicide prevention. Responsible for reporting project data, trends for measuring success, and the completion of reports.
  • Collects and analyzes data; prepares reports; and maintains program records and statistical information as required by college regulations.
  • May train and direct staff, student employees and/or graduate students.
 

Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional evening hours / weekends.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.

 

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in psychology, health and wellness, student counseling, social work, occupational therapy; or an equivalent combination of education plus experience is required.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based mental health and wellness interventions in college aged students
  • Understanding of brief interventions, education and programming to support students in the prevention of suicidality and substance abuse.
  • Must have experience with diverse/underserved communities.
  • Prior grant experience preferred.
