Job Title- FACULTY-LICENSED VOCATIONAL NURSING-WRTTC

Position Status- Full Time

Classification Title- Faculty-12 month

Work Location- WRTTC-1309 W. I-10, Fort Stockton, TX

Job Summary- The faculty member is responsible for teaching vocational nursing theory and skills in the classroom, campus lab, and clinical settings, primarily at the Williams Regional Technical Training Center in Fort Stockton.

Required Qualifications

  • Must hold a current, unencumbered RN license or privilege to practice in Texas
  • Minimum education requirement: Associate’s degree or diploma from a hospital-based nursing school
  • Must have been actively employed in nursing within the last three years or have advanced preparation in nursing, nursing education, or nursing administration
  • Must have diverse nursing experience since graduation, demonstrate teaching abilities, and maintain current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in the teaching area
  • Knowledge of nursing-related equipment is required
  • Must be proficient in computer use and fluent in English
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, and be insurable under Midland College’s insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in nursing
  • Experience teaching nursing courses at a community college or university
  • Experience working with or precepting nursing students in clinical settings
  • Familiarity with online management systems like Canvas or Blackboard
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software, including Word and PowerPoint

Essential Functions

  • Fulfill faculty roles and responsibilities as outlined in the Midland College Faculty Handbook
  • Assist in program details such as scheduling, teaching, lab operations, and curriculum development
  • Teach and supervise students in clinical and skills labs
  • Ensure proper orientation, clinical assignments, and learning opportunities for all students in the Ft. Stockton campus cohort
  • Teach nursing courses on the Ft. Stockton campus at the WRTTC, with interactive video conferencing (IVC) for students at the Midland campus; occasionally travel to and conduct face-to-face classes from the Midland campus
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate the curriculum
  • Assess student learning outcomes, including online testing
  • Contribute to the creation, implementation, and enforcement of standards and policies as outlined in the Midland College Catalog and Student, Health Sciences, and Vocational Nursing Handbooks
  • Support recruitment, academic advising, admissions, withdrawals, and graduation processes for students
  • Establish and maintain positive public relations with civic and healthcare entities in the community
  • Assist the Program Chair in maintaining program approval with the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Attend educational, campus, and departmental meetings
  • Maintain positive communication and collaboration with the faculty team, Program Chair, and Dean of Health Sciences
  • Teach 15 lecture equivalent hours (LEH) per long semester and 12 LEH during the summer, including didactic, lab, and clinical content; overload may be required and compensated per Midland College policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
  • This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally travel to clinical sites
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Must be able to bend, reach overhead, and lift/move up to 20 pounds
  • Frequently lifts or moves equipment needed in teaching and directing students in the laboratory and clinical areas weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Duties indoors and some outdoors
  • Office, classroom, simulation laboratory, and clinical setting with common related bodily fluids present
  • Office, classroom, simulation laboratory, and community setting with common related chemicals present
  • Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
  • Ability to work with gloves, dress manikins, and move simulation medical equipment throughout the SimLife Center
  • Fast-paced, high-stress, high-tech touch simulated health care facility where people will be affected by the reality of the experiences

Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
