Job Description:
Bunker Hill Community College (BHCC) is seeking an innovative Associate Vice President & Chief Information Officer (AVP/CIO) to lead its Division of Information Technology. As a key member of the Executive Team, the CIO will play a pivotal role in shaping BHCC's technological future, developing and implementing IT strategies that align with the College's mission and strategic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and excellent communication skills.
In collaboration with BHCC leadership and faculty, the CIO provides essential technologies, data analytics, and support services to enhance teaching and learning, ultimately supporting student success. The CIO is committed to improving the reliability and performance of core technologies, optimizing administrative systems, and leveraging modern technology solutions to elevate student services and streamline business processes.
The CIO actively engages in discussions about technology and data governance, partnering with students, faculty, and staff to explore innovative ways to utilize technology to further student success. Additionally, the CIO leads the development of technology strategies that leverage digital media to promote the College and strengthen constituent engagement.
As a dedicated advocate for BHCC's entire technology portfolio, the CIO facilitates IT governance, advises the Vice President's Council (VPC) on significant IT investments, and recommends appropriate policies to manage data, technology, and information security risks. The CIO leads an IT organization that maintains high performance standards and empowers IT professionals to enhance their skills and contributions to the College.
BHCC's IT group, a team of thirty-five full-time and part-time members, operates with an annual budget of approximately $7 million. This team is responsible for a wide range of IT functions, including networking and telecommunications, enterprise applications such as Ellucian Colleague, classroom technology, user support, and information security. The group is committed to providing the necessary technologies to support both online and classroom-based learning, collaborating closely with the Provost's Academic Innovation & Distance Education department (AIDE) to assist faculty in adopting effective learning technologies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic and financial IT plans. They will set the college's technical direction, lead technology adoption decisions in consultation with stakeholders, and provide technology and support services to enhance teaching and learning. The candidate will build effective organizations and foster a culture of service excellence. They will lead or manage core infrastructure, including networks, data centers, servers, security, and storage, ensuring cost-effectiveness and high reliability.
The candidate will operate within established budgets, effectively managing large capital and operating budgets. They will lead and develop a diverse group of future IT leaders, facilitating their professional development. The candidate will identify and manage technology-related risks, including information security, privacy, and disaster recovery risks. They will stay informed about emerging technologies and their applications in higher education. Additionally, the candidate will have experience addressing the issues and challenges facing higher education, particularly community colleges, and working with and managing collective bargaining units. They will possess the ability to work effectively with diverse student, faculty, and staff populations.

Salary Range: $170,000 - $180,000 Non-Unit Professional position. Full State Benefits. Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience.
