Position Summary

The Community Enrichment Coordinator, in close collaboration with the Program Manager and Director I, assists with organizing and coordinating classes and activities for the public and college community. The individual in this position supports the Personal Enrichment Department needs for the Southern Maryland region's youth population to include homeschool expansion, summer enrichment, and other year-round programming.

Reports to: Director I, Personal Enrichment

The College of Southern Maryland conducts background checks in order to ensure the safety and well-being of the College's staff and students.  The final candidate for this position will be subject to the following background checks:  Criminal History Check and Sex Offender Registry Check.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to organize and coordinate the successful execution of community events, programs, and classes.
  • Research and implement current trends and best community engagement and enrichment practices for youth programming.
  • Participate in events and programs supporting the department and college's mission.
  • Support the Program Manager in coordinating community meetings, events, and conferences to promote collaboration and share insights to support the expansion of the homeschool program.
  • Follow the continuing education production timeline.
  • Conduct data entry of schedules and complete updates to integrated data systems to reflect accurate data.
  • Proof marketing materials to include schedules, emails, postcards, and flyers.
  • Assist the department with implementing scholarships to student accounts specifically for the expansion of the homeschool program.
  • Provide guidance and support to volunteers, ensuring a positive and rewarding experience.
  • Assist the department in instructor and temporary staff recruitment, onboarding, and program scheduling.
  • Ensure on-site/off-site locations are appropriately equipped and set up for upcoming classes and programs.
  • Assist instructors in classes as needed.
  • Ensure excellent customer service both internally and externally with students, parents and staff through email and phone communication.
  • Assist department with goals and objectives relative to both new and repeated programming.
  • Actively participate in departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings and events.
  • Contributes to annual college wide strategic planning process; participate in the development of the unit’s strategic plan.

Additional Duties:
  • Performs other related work as required.

Minimum Education and Training

  • Associate degree in business management, event management, communications, or education.
  • Two years’ experience working with youth required.

Minimum Qualifications and Standards Required

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, educational technologies, and other office equipment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility with schedule; some evenings and weekends may occasionally be required.
  • Must be able to travel to all county campus locations.
 
Physical Requirements:
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
