BARGAINING UNIT/NON-UNIT, CLASSIFICATION (If Applicable): MCCC, Coordinator of Instructional Technology (HB1111)

ANTICIPATED START DATE: March 2025

SALARY RANGE: Rank: Grade 7 with a Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent: Salary range is $79,603 - $84,603. Actual salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with the MCCC collective bargaining agreement provisions.

OPTION TO TELEWORK: This position is eligible for remote work, per the Commonwealth's Telework Policy


 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Join an innovative team at Greenfield Community College as an Coordinator of Instructional Technology, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education through digital media and technology. Reporting to the Director of the Teaching and Learning Innovation Center (TLIC) within our forward-thinking Information Technology (IT) team, you'll collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to design engaging presentations, activities, and media that enhance both credit and non-credit courses, workshops, and college initiatives.

As part of this dynamic position, you will work closely with the TLIC Director and team to drive the creative use of technology in both in-person and online learning environments. You'll also provide hands-on training for classroom technology, multimedia studios, and presentation spaces, while contributing to innovative curriculum and instructional design.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Participates in the development of Learning Management System software upgrades and enhancements in cooperation with the IT Applications Team and TLIC.
  • Coordinates testing and configuration of LMS functionality.
  • Evaluates and tests add-ons and plug-ins for the LMS and recommends adoption or termination as appropriate.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for faculty and staff in using the LMS, including consulting on course design and management, setting up gradebooks, tests, quizzes, assignments, etc.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for educational technology including (but not limited to): Smartboards, teaching stations, SMART notebook, Zoom, PowerPoint, Google Workspaces.
  • Create instructional videos and/or specialized documentation on best practices for teaching and learning technology as necessary.
  • Create customized training modules in conjunction with faculty and staff.
  • Curate and support best-practices in technology-rich teaching.
  • Work with Disability Services to create and provide resources to faculty to promote accessibility of in-person and online course materials.
  • Assist TLIC team to support multimedia and audiovisual aspects of campus events.
  • Provide workshops and one-on-one training for faculty on using instructional technology

Job Requirements:


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Three (3) years' experience providing technology support in an educational setting.
  • Demonstrated competency with Windows and Macintosh computer platforms, as well as common desktop software applications and basic networking.
  • Demonstrated competency with video creation and editing, multimedia, and videoconferencing software and audiovisual technology in an educational setting.
  • Two (2) years' experience working with and supporting a Learning Management System in an educational setting.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with standard desktop software applications (MS Office, Google Apps, Adobe CS).
  • Ability to produce various media materials.
  • Experience training and instructing individuals and groups on the use of AV, computer and video equipment.
  • Self-starting lifelong learner with proven aptitude to understand and integrate new technologies.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in Education, Instructional Media/Technology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Experience working in higher education.
