Class Description
The purpose of this class is to oversee the Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program. Recruit potential students, teach workshop-based training, guide students through the certification process, provide academic and career advisement, and develop and maintain learning assessment processes.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Family Studies, Public Health, or a related field required, Master’s degree preferred. Must be credentialed as a Peer Supervisor or eligible for endorsement within first 6 months of employment. Current Certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist preferred. Three (3) years of full-time experience working with community college students, under-resourced adults, or substance-using populations required. Familiarity with peer certification processes preferred. Must have a valid Maryland driver’s license with moving violation points fewer than five (5).
This is a grant-funded position.

- Provide oversight of Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program.
- Support students during their academic training.
- Coordinate a functional process within assigned College department or division.
- Monitor compliance with department policies and procedures.
- Maintain department records and files, as required.
- Serve as point of contact for internal and external organizations.
- Represent the College and/or department at events, as required.
- Prepare, analyze and provide reports on miscellaneous subjects, as requested.
