Marketing Manager (Communications Consultant 3)

Position Summary

Salary range for this position is: $56,916/yr. - $76,572/yr. (depending on experience)

This position leverages strategic communications to engage a wide-ranging audience that will enhance Seattle Central¿s image and reputation, advance student recruitment and retention, and foster authentic ties with students, alumni, and the greater college community. More than just a promotional arm of Seattle Central, the Marketing and Communications office develops and nurtures deep connections within our community, contributing to the college's role as a cornerstone of the Capitol Hill neighborhood.
Under the supervision of the Director of Communications, the Marketing Manager (Communications Consultant 3) will play a key role in coordinating comprehensive marketing and branding campaigns that will drive student enrollment and success and increase public awareness of the college.
Minimal travel within the colleges service district will be required, along with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed.

What you will be working on:
Marketing (50%)
- Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and branding initiatives for the college, and work with colleagues in the service district for districtwide initiative
- Conduct marketing research and assess marketing outcomes to improve strategy over time
- Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing and communications plans for student recruitment, retention, and persistence in collaboration with college programs and in partnership with District colleagues.
- Coordinate the purchase and placement of advertising in digital, print, broadcast, and out-of-home outlets. Negotiate and maintain all advertising/media contracts and relationships with outside vendors.
- Ensure articulation of the college's desired image and position, and consistent communication of the brand, to the college's internal and external constituencies.
- Support, assist in and/or lead the production of marketing materials, including email campaigns, brochures, fliers, advertising copy, email content, video, and radio scripts, etc
Social Media Management (30%)
- Generate, edit, publish, and share daily social media content to increase brand awareness and engagement in partnership with marketing and communications team
- Make recommendations for adopting emerging platforms, tools, and social media capabilities
- Monitor performance across social media channels, tracking impact and engagement, synthesizing new insights, and proactively adjusting tactics and strategies as needed
- Plan strategic, creative approaches and produce fresh, regular content to reach new and existing audiences
- Maintain an editorial calendar aligned with all communications and marketing strategies
Web Management (20%)
- Execute content updates using Drupal content management system (CMS)
- Develop web content and revise web content provided by others for brand alignment, clear and concise messaging, and web usability
- Analyze content, performance, user behavior and traffic patterns provided by web analytics tools
- Regularly review website for content accuracy and opportunities for new content and/or features
What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Bachelor¿s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent education/experience.
- 3-5 years of full-time work experience in a related position and/or field, such as marketing, media relations, communications and/or public relations is preferred. Candidates with at least two years of marketing training through education will also be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively and devise unique marketing strategies that obtain proven, measurable results.
- Knowledge of advertising production and placement; experience negotiating media buys.
- Experience coordinating marketing efforts for an organization or company, especially at an institution of higher education.
- Ability to gather and analyze data to track and assess marketing efforts.
- Knowledge of the Seattle area media and advertising market.
- Experience utilizing social media to creatively reach target audiences.
- Understanding of branding principles and experience enforcing brand standards.
- Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software.
- Experience with website content management systems (CMS)
- Ability to communicate effectively in a culturally competent manner to a variety of audiences, especially with diverse people and groups.
- Experience working with persons from diverse backgrounds, including racial, ethnic, religious, gender, sexual orientation and socioeconomic, as well as those with physical and learning disabilities.
- Willing to occasionally work evenings and weekends as assigned
- Willing to occasionally serve as back up public information officer
Preferred Qualifications (highly desired, but not required):
- Experience in higher education
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite
- Professional level photography and videography
- Experience with Drupal CMS
- Experience with Azorus CRM
- Experience with emergency communications
Physical Requirements:
The Position
- Typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to Perform duties. The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
- Encounters frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
- Is regularly required to provide 1:1 support, present to small groups, and work at a computer exercising repetitive hand motion with or without reasonable accommodation.
